Goal of the game

The game is a 2.5D platformer where the player controls a little cat. The player is tasked by the cats owners to break into a facility and steal the valuable gold hidden in the vault, deep under the ground. There are multiple levels to the facility, connected by elevators. On every level, the player has to activate the elevator by finding the button. The player can then continue their way. Once the player has reached the vault and picked up the gold, they have to get the gold out by turning around and playing the levels backwards. Once they reach the starting point, the game ends.

While making their way through the levels, the player encounters different obstacles they need to avoid. The facility has security measures that protect the gold from being taken. There are guards that move around in the halls. If the player enters their line of sight, the player is put back at the last checkpoint. There are also cameras that act the same way, except for the movement. They just turn around occasionally. The final obstacle is a series of moving laser grids. The player has to crawl in the vents to avoid those.

Style

This game was quite an experiment for me. One of the projects that I want to do in the near future is a 2.5D sidescroller that would need a lot of attention in the design department. To avoid having to also figure out how to represent a 2.5D game, I made this game to try and work out a style. I especially put work into the lighting, trying to find a balance between looks and performance. I gained a lot of knowledge about the lighting engine in Unity that will be very useful in future projects.
